The concept of geological heritage was born in 1991 during the First International Symposium for the Preservation of Geological Heritage in Digne-les-Bains (France). This meeting organized by the Geological Reserve includes 150 participants from 39 different countries and led to the Declaration on the Rights of the Memory of the Earth.
